ARTIST STATEMENT

I was born and raised in New Mexico, my mother was Navajo (Dené) and my father was Mexican American (Chicano). The Romero family was encouraged to participate in what each culture offered us whether it was for enjoyment, spiritual or to something to learn from.

I appreciate and understand it more now as an adult and as an artist that influence is evident both in my paintings and my Native jewelry work. My designs, subjects, and motifs have a contemporary cross culture blend with colors mediums as well as a combination of techniques.
