July 6-31, Muriel Miguel is conducting theater workshops for Native youth in Minneapolis with the Native American AIDS Project.

August 4-30, SPIDERWOMAN THEATER is traveling to Europe where they will conduct theater workshops and perform at the International Theater Festival in Stockholm, Sweden. Afterwards they will travel to Oslo, Norway. There they will conduct theater workshops and performances with the Sammi people.

The New 1998 Miss Indian World is..

Drum roll please... 23-year-old April Whittemore from North Carolina. Ms. Whittemore, of Lumbee-Cheraw/Tuscarora and Irish descent, was crowned the new Miss Indian World at the Gathering of Nations Pow Wow in Albuquerque, N.M. on April 25, 1998. She is a graduate of Campbell University and works as a youth counselor with the Indian Housing authority.
