ARTIST BIO
Jeffrey is an active arts educator in museums and
schools. He has
taught interpretive programs at The Jersey City Museum, The Bronx
Museum,
The Montclair Art Museum, and Socrates Sculpture Park. He is currently
an
adjunct professor at New Jersey City University and teaches painting
and
drawing to gifted and talented high school students at the Arts and
Education Center (NJ).
Jeffrey Gibson is a painter and sculptor living in Jersey City, and working in both New York and New Jersey. He graduated from the Royal College of Art in London, England in 1998 with a Master of Arts degree. Before moving to New York, Mr. Gibson exhibited in group and solo shows in both London and Norway.
Since returning to the United States in 1999, Jeffrey has exhibited with the Bronx Museum of the Arts (NY), The Morris Museum (NJ), Samson Projects (MA), and was selected as the Alternate Fellow for the Smithsonian's National Museum of the American Indian. His work has also been published in various books and magazines in England, Norway, and Spain.
Jeffrey's work will be featured in upcoming exhibitions at Aljira Center for Contemporary Art (NJ), Kean University (NJ), Jersey City Museum (NJ), The Jones Center for Contemporary Art (TX), and at the American Indian Community House (NYC).
