ARTIST BIO

Singer/Songwriter Roger Kuhn (Poarch Band of Creek) began his journey into the world of music at a very early age on the prairies of North Dakota where he spent his childhood days on his family’s farm.

He began writing songs at the age of 5 and started performing around his hometown for family, friends and the local senior citizens home. The acting bug bit and this lead Roger to explore the world of theater where he had lead roles in regional and community theater in such works as West Side Story, The Sound of Music, Aladdin and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat to name a few. At the age of 16 Roger won the North Dakota State Dramatic Interpretation contest and competed in the National Forensics League Championship.

At 20, with a backpack of clothes and $600 in his pocket he moved to New York City to pursue his dream of becoming a performer. After living in the city for a short three months he got his first paying job as a singer and has never looked back.

Currently at work on his debut album for NdNy Records, Roger's new CD, Proof, promises to be a breath of fresh air. Dealing with such diverse issues as bi-racial heritage and the commercialization of art, Kuhn opens up his world and allows the listener to map their own course through his music. He weaves a web of love, pain and loss while managing to uplift the soul and stimulate the mind. His first tour, "The Weekends Away Tour", kicks off this spring in Fargo, ND. The tour will be making stops in San Francisco, Chicago, Atlanta, Denver, Minneapolis, New York, Boston, Seattle, Washington DC, Montreal, London and Amsterdam.

Roger has worked with several local, national and international artists as a contributing writer, studio session singer, background vocalist and instrumentalist.

While not in the studio or on stage performing, Roger spends his time volunteering for various non-profit organizations, lobbying for human and animal rights and dancing to the beat of his own drum.
